Introduction:
Even if we are used to answering students' questions every day, as teachers, we may well ask ourselves: “Why is teaching a rewarding profession? What is the journey to becoming a successful teacher? And how should we respond to the challenges of technology (Such as ChatGPT)?”
On Wednesday 15 March at 7 pm Beijing time, Professor Barnaby Lennon, a senior leader in British education and Dean of the School of Education at the University of Buckingham, will be speaking at BISE's special live virtual event with international school teachers in China. He will draw on his years of experience in teaching and school management in the UK and beyond, to share with teachers how to select the best courses and qualifications that will empower their professional development.

About Professor Barnaby Lenon
Professor Barnaby Lenon CBE is Dean of the School of Education at the University of Buckingham.
Professor Barnaby Lenon taught at many well-regarded schools in England, including Eton, Highgate School, where he was the deputy headmaster, Trinity School Croydon, where he was the headmaster, and Harrow School, where he was headmaster for 12 years. During his time at Harrow, he started two schools in China.
He then helped establish the London Academy of Excellence in East London, one of the most successful state sixth form Academies, where he is chairman of governors. He is chairman of the Independent Schools Council, which supports 1400 private schools in the UK, and has been a governor of 25 state and independent schools. He was a member of the board of Ofqual during the implementation of the reforms to GCSEs and A-levels and is now on their Standards Advisory Committee.
Barnaby read Geography at Keble College, Oxford, then went on to St John's College, Cambridge to train for a career in teaching. He has written six books including, Much Promise,about high-achieving state schools, and Other People’s Children, about the least academic 50% in England. He researches the characteristics of effective teachers in the UK and USA.
